John E. Celentano
Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Public Affairs and Philanthropy
John Celentano leads his team in the development of employee talent and culture, the delivery of effective internal and external communications, and the execution of our company’s philanthropic objectives and programs. Each of these areas is critical in support of our company’s overall strategic direction.
John has considerable global business experience, a long track record of strong execution in a variety of roles and broad exposure and understanding of the need for effective communications. He has a passion for developing talent in others and is an enthusiastic advocate for diversity.
Prior to his current role, John was president, Emerging Markets and Asia Pacific, with responsibility for the countries in our Emerging Markets Strategy -- Brazil, Russia, India, China and Turkey -- as well as Asia Pacific and Japan.
John was senior vice president, Strategy and Productivity Transformation, from March 2008 to March 2009. At that time he was responsible for the company's Productivity Transformation Initiative.
John joined Bristol-Myers Squibb as a sales representative in 1982. He advanced through the Bristol-Myers Squibb ranks in sales, market research and marketing. In 2000, he became vice president and general manager, Northern Europe, and in 2002 was promoted to president of our operations in Latin America and Canada. Three years later, he was named president, Health Care Group, with responsibility for the Mead Johnson Nutrition, ConvaTec and Medical Imaging divisions.
John earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware in 1982 and an MBA from Drexel University in 1989. He is married and has three children.
