Discovery Medicine & Clinical Pharmacology

In drug development, it is essential to understand how drugs interact with living organisms to produce a change in function. This is the work we do in Discovery Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology. Here our goals are to understand desired and undesired effects of compounds in early clinical trials, and to use that information to determine whether the compounds are hitting the target they were designed to hit, to select the most appropriate patient population, to identify the clinical indication and dosing schedule, as well as gain insight into appropriate uses in later stages of development.

Discovery Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology
“People in Discovery Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology really take the company’s mission to extend and enhance human life to heart," says Susan Galbraith, Ph.D., vice president, Clinical Development. "We come to work every day knowing that the work we do will directly impact the availability of important new medicines for patients in need of new treatment options.”

Our scientists work closely with colleagues across the research and development organization to define the most important questions to be answered through clinical trials at each step of the drug development cycle. We work with exciting new technologies like functional imaging, genomics and proteomics and strive to effectively incorporate these innovative techniques into clinical trials.

We are looking for people who are interested in translational medical research and have a background in clinical pharmacology, pharmacometrics, biomarker development, translational medicine, or clinical research operations.
